Spider Farmer - SF2000 - 200W
Product Information:
The Spider Farmer SF2000 is a high powered, thoughtfully designed 3’ grow light. The spectrum is balanced with a good proportion of blue LEDs which will give a more pure white appearance compared to other grow lights. The LED arrangement is designed to have more towards the edges of the light to produce an even distribution of light on your shelf below. The energy efficiency is excellent as well with the extremely high quality Samsung LM301H EVO diodes. While it can be used for a 4’ x 2’ grow area, there is some light drop off towards the far ends (but this can be used for medium light plants at the edges!).
NOTE: Lights have free shipping and will ship separately from plants.
Wattage: 200W
LEDs: 2.7 μmol/j; non-dimmable
Dimensions: 25.51”L x 10.55”W x 2.32”H
PPF: 553.9 μmol/s
Species: All high light species like Drosera, Flytraps, Sarracenia, Cephalotus, Darlingtonia, most Tropical Pinguicula, Heliamphora, etc. Medium light species can be at the edges of coverage with less light.
Lighting:
Lighting is one of the most important aspects of growing carnivorous plants. Most carnivorous plants prefer very strong light, and the best results come from high quality LED grow lights. Not only does it stimulate fast growth, the plants will attain beautiful coloration — bright red tentacles on Sundews, red mouths on Flytraps, pink/purple/red on Tropical Butterworts, and deep reds on Sarracenia just as a few examples (some species will stay green in bright light but will be healthier). Sundews will produce more dew under proper lighting (not usually an issue with water, but lighting)! Bright light can make the plants a bit more compact and robust, but the increased health and better appearance are absolutely worth it.
Using LEDs is simple, and most designs have a dimmer switch to adjust the light intensity. Mount them over your growing area and roughly calculate the light intensity based on distance and dispersion.
Cheap LEDs are too weak, extremely energy inefficient, and limited in spectrum (types of light “color” that plants need). High quality LEDs are essential for healthy plants and will use far less energy and produce less heat (and last for many, many years). I’ve personally vetted and used these LEDs for my plants and can attest to their quality and function.
